My name is Yutong.

I am a writer and translator; sometimes I write with words, sometimes with images. For me, writing is the walk in absolute debris of an encounter—it doesn't “reveal” or “recover” a higher “truth”; it is the way language languages me. In these processes of working through the wreckage of experience and textuality, there is translation, in a broader sense.

As someone who relies on a second and third language to make myself recognizable, translation is both survival and the fundamental medium through which I connect to my surroundings.

Through writing, photography, and moving images, my practice follows the drifting paths of migration and memory, rooted in my native Himalayas.
